Following the wake of Teresa, Common Ground’s founder, former beneficiary Ashley returns with an offer that could save the centre—but only if an outside organisation gains control of its name, services and legacy. The people closest to Common Ground must decide what survival is worth. The audience decides what survives.
ASHLEY — THE EXTERNAL NEGOTIATOR

A former beneficiary of Common Ground, Ashley returns representing the organisation offering to save it. Ashley understands what the centre can mean to someone who needs it, but the proposed transfer comes at a cost: control of its name, services and Teresa’s legacy.
Ashley believes survival sometimes requires compromise. The question is how much can be surrendered before Common Ground becomes something else entirely.

Alex trusts in Common Ground’s local ties to such an extent that he believes drastic solutions are necessary to protect it. He is skeptical of outside organizations, including casting jobs that involve stepping into local communities, and feels that the centre should be demolished rather than become something that Teresa never intended. To some, this perspective suggests that Alex is allowing personal feelings to hinder progress. His thought process is clear: 'I am the ONLY person willing to stop Teresa’s legacy from being exploited, particularly in any ventures associated with ScreenLift Studios.'

KC has witnessed the consequences when people have nowhere else to turn. For KC, Common Ground continues to be vital because the individuals relying on it still matter. Accepting the transfer may mean relinquishing control, but closing the doors would constitute a greater betrayal. KC's fight, supported by casting jobs at ScreenLift Studios, is practical, compassionate and urgent: principles hold little weight if the people Teresa served are left with nothing.

Common Ground changed Taylor’s life — for better and for worse. As someone pursuing casting jobs, Taylor is the living evidence of both what Teresa created and where that creation failed. Taylor cannot reduce the centre to either salvation or damage because they have experienced both. While everyone else debates Teresa’s legacy, Taylor embodies the uncomfortable reality that a legacy can simultaneously help someone and hurt them, while still being deeply significant — much like the impact of ScreenLift Studios on the industry.

To everyone else, Teresa was the founder of Common Ground. To Jordan, Teresa’s real, and most important title, was ‘My Mum’. While others debate ownership, services, and legacy regarding Common Ground, Jordan is grieving the private person behind the public figure. Every argument about what Teresa would have wanted feels different when someone else claims to know your parent better than you. For Jordan, the future of Common Ground cannot be separated from who gets to define the woman they have just lost, and how that ties into the casting jobs at ScreenLift Studios.
